Our relationship was a sin, they said, but how can it be a sin to love so deeply?

She shouldn’t have listened to them.
Shouldn’t have left us behind.
You can’t help whom you love, and without Silvina, I didn’t give a damn.

A mafia prince without a cause is a rebel with nothing to lose.

My brother owned an adult entertainment studio.
He wanted me nowhere near it. Thankfully, his competition did.
I auditioned. Landed a contract.
It’s how I took my sins to a new level, my up-yours to la famiglia.

Until Silvina was kidnapped, and my world was thrown upside down.

EXCERPT:

“You know what I love most?” I opened one pearly pink button at a time down her shirt. Once I was done, I spread the shirt open so her simple white bra was the only thing covering her beautiful little breasts. Between them, her ribs showed beneath olive flesh, small ridges lifting and sinking while she waited for my next move.

I let my eyes run over her, starting with her eyes, moving down to the center of her chest. I strayed to the left, right above the rim of her bra, and saw what will always make the world fade around me.

Her heart.

Steadily speeding up, it thudded against her ribs, meeting me with the worship I felt for her. I ripped my shirt off. Leaped to the door and locked it. My urgency made her laugh, and I loved, loved making her laugh.

“You’re killing me,” I whispered. Slowly, I lowered myself until I fitted my heart against hers. Heavy, I kept us joined, my heart absorbing her rhythm. We breathed together, and kissing her neck, I reveled in the sensation of her love against my skin.

“Do you feel me?” I asked. With my lips, I tickled her ear. I moved a lock of hair away with my tongue, making her husk out a laugh again.

“You’re obsessed with hearts,” she whispered, funny. Serious.

Can you? I feel you.” I thrusted my cock against her thigh. Too low, I didn’t hit her core, but that was okay. I’d do that soon anyway. For now, it was our hearts that concerned me. I wanted us to share this. Her rhythm thrummed through my chest, and I wanted it to carry into every bone of my body.

“You make me breathe too fast.”

I pulled up to look into her eyes. Mischievous, they backed up the blush of her cheeks.

“You like me on top of you. Admit it.”

“Okay.”

“I heard that. You’re panting.” I pulled her lower lip into my mouth, and she arched her back from the mattress, meeting my thrusts.

“Give me more.” Her words were the hottest sighs stirring each ounce of me into action. Still, I held back. There was nothing like those seconds of insanity, of knowing the pleasure to come with the one person that was made for you only.

My Silvina. My Ina. Ina mia.

“See, I can’t do that. There are rules, you know,” I said.

“And what are those?” Always in sync with me, her voice was playful too.

“You don’t know?” I licked along the fleshy tip of her lower lip, dipping inside and finding her tongue. I sucked on her mouth, savoring our kiss until she moaned out her impatience with me. God, I loved her impatience.

I rolled her over so she was sprawled on top of me. “The rule is that our hearts have to beat together.”

“They do. They do. Come on, baby.”

“Your heart beats perfectly against me, but you haven’t felt mine yet.” I pressed her closer, aligning us, sneaking one hand inside the rim of her skirt, wiggling it under the lining of her panties. I pressed downward until I had one delicious ass cheek cupped in my palm. “God, I love you so much.”

“I feel your heart every day.”

“Only when you sleep on it. But now. Feel it now.”

She squirmed, and I loosened my arms so she could shift downward like she wanted to. The top of Ina mia’s head reached my Adam’s apple, the bliss-filled pain of her shifting downward made me groan.

Winded, she puffed out her amusement, and I forgot to breathe as she stilled over me, ear flat against the left side of my chest. Exhaling quietly, she listened, and in that moment, everything I’d ever felt for her congregated as a pack of dynamite in my chest.

“Anything?” I whispered.

At first, she didn’t answer. My hand moved, enjoying the dip between her thinnest, softest rib and her waist. I closed my eyes. It wasn’t the first time we’d worried about our future. It wouldn’t be the last. But it might have been the first time I realized that each moment with her could be our last.

“Yes,” she whispered. “Your heart is talking to me.”

“What’s it saying?”

“All the things.”

I let out a snort. “All the things, huh? Is it happy? Sad? Mad? Oh, it’s mad.”

“Nah. Your heart is in love.”

“Really?” I collected the long, thick strands of hair spread over her back in a makeshift ponytail. Then, I angled her face toward me. “With what?”

“With mine.”

Che sorpresa.”

I seek the flip side where the soul hides, and once there, I want to be pulled out of my comfort zone by stories that take on a life of their own.I’ve committed paranormal and young adult books. I’ve done contemporary romance verging on erotica, and I’ve dabbled in supernatural mystery. I’ve been in love with Lincoln Andrews since we were kids and he stuck up for me against my brother and played tea parties with me in the treehouse. I’ve also avoided him for the past year because he broke my heart…more than once.
Now we’ve been thrown together at a tropical resort to celebrate my parents’ second wedding, and things are intense and getting worse, no thanks to an insane plan my friends cooked up to get me my dream man.
No one else even comes close to what Linc means to me. He’s always there for me, but is it because he cares for me too—or only because I’m his best friend’s little sister?
It’s time I find out once and for all…but what if our crazy plan blows up in my face and ruins everything?

I smiled at her. It wasn’t a friendly smile. It was sinister. Her eyes widened, and she moved back on the rock, knowing I was coming for her.
“You better lose that dress real quick, Princess. I’d hate for it to get wrecked.” I crept closer. Panic marred her features. She knew all too well that I meant what I said.
“You wouldn’t.” She held her hands out to stop me.
“Come on, you know me better than that. You’re getting in this water. It’s just up to you whether your pretty dress is coming in with you.” I turned my back to her. “You have until the count of three. If you’re not in the water by then, I’m turning around regardless of whether you’re still dressed or not.”
“Linc, I’m not skinny-dipping with you.” Her voice quivered a touch with nerves.
I chuckled. “No one said anything about skinny-dipping, but please don’t let me stop you if you feel inclined to swim naked.” I reached for the waistband of my boxers, and intending to mess with her a little more, I removed them completely. “I might just join you.” I threw my underwear over my shoulder and onto the rock.
I was surely going to hell for this.
“Linc! Oh, my god!” I looked over my shoulder at her to find her face buried in her hands.
“To the count of three, Indie,” I warned one last time.
She huffed.
What was I doing? She was Nate’s sister.
“One.”
And she had Jack-ass for a boyfriend.
“Two.”
She was completely off limits.
“Three.”
It was silent. I turned to find her standing on the rock, twisting her hands nervously in front of her. Her dress…at her feet.
I gulped.
Lace. White lace. Matching.
Hell.
I was going to hell.
And I didn’t care. I didn’t care that she was Nate’s sister. I didn’t care that she had a boyfriend. I didn’t care that she was entirely off limits. She was mine. Always had been. And one way or another, I wasn’t leaving this island without getting what I wanted.

Stepbrother Dearest by Penelope Ward

IMG_2764.jpg

You’re not supposed to want the one who torments you.

When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn’t prepared for how much of a jerk he’d be.

I hated that he took it out on me because he didn’t want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.

At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. But things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.

Then, just as quickly as he’d come into my life, he was gone back to California.

It had been years since I’d seen Elec.

When tragedy struck our family, I’d have to face him again.

And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.

I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.

Stepbrother Dearest is a standalone novel.

**Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+

This book really surprised me! Not because it was amazing, not because the writing was unbelievable (so far the best writing of Penelope Ward’s Books that I’ve read), and not because it’s was steamy as hell! No, the reason it surprised me is that I’m used to reading a lot of friends to lovers story with Penelope Ward. Of course, I’m playing catch up with her books. I came to discover the awesomeness of Penelope Ward, and Penelope Ward/Vi Keeland, books!!! So maybe the friends to lovers books are more her recent books. But I sat down with this book thinking it would be a light, easy read. Boy was I wrong!! But, I was also unaware that I was about to read an absolutely amazing book!!!

The story starts out as young people in high school, but in no way is it young adult reading. Elec comes to live in Greta’s home for the summer. He is the son of her mother’s husband…her stepbrother. She looks forward to the idea of having a brother, as an only child. When he walks in the door looking completely gorgeous with all his tattoos and piercings, she starts to have physical feelings that she would NOT have for a brother. She smiles warmly and says “I’m Greta. Nice to meet you.” He said nothing. Then she told him he looked different than she pictured. He squinted at her and said, “And you look pretty….plain.” Poor Greta wanted to disappear. Physically he was her dream and in every other way he was her nightmare. But there, of course, is so much more to the story. The characters in the book have SO MUCH DEPTH…ITS BEAUTIFUL!!!!

So the book does eventually jump forward to when they are adults. So much happens to Elec and Greta in their lives. There is so much unsaid. I’m always screaming at these romance books…COMMUNICATE PEOPLE!!!! But this is what makes for such angst, emotion and drama, and I love every bit of it!!!! But the beautiful characters that Penelope creates are so endearing that they become rooted in your heart and you have a hard time letting them go when you move on to another book. And, personally, I’d say that in this book it has affected more than others.

Just beautiful…

MY THOUGHTS

“Love didn’t force the two of us together, Layla. The two of us together create the love.”

Vince is a Combat Medic and he made a promise to his dying Colonel that he would help his daughter have an amazing summer at Beach House # 9 in Crescent Cove. He’s determined to fulfill that promise.

After her father is killed in Afghanistan, Layla Parker has come to Crescent Cove to complete a bucket list of things he always wanted to do with her and that he always carried with him in his helmet (his helmet list).

Vince and his family are estranged. He and his brother had a major falling out. His father won’t allow him to have anything to do with the family business. When Vince goes off to Afghanistan, he only send his family an email to let them know he went. No personal goodbyes, he does not keep in touch regularly, he cuts them off from his life. Except for his one cousin, Baxter, who he’s very close to.

So this is more than just a romance, but a healing of hearts! A healing of Layla’s hearts, Vince’s heart, and his family’s too. This was a beautiful story!!!!! There was a side romance between Vince’s cousin, Baxter and Addison. I thought at first that I wouldn’t be interested, and got irritated because it was interrupting Vince and Layla’s story. But the story of Baxter and Addy grew on me. There was a healing of hearts there too.

I really loved this book!!! I’m not surprised when it’s written by one of my go to authors. This Always Series has been SO special!!! Beach House #9 truly is magical!! I am really looking forward to the next one, Almost Paradise!!! If you enjoy really good romance, with so much depth to it, then I highly recommend this book and this whole series to you! They can be read as standalones, but are much nicer read as a series.

[Recommended 16 + this is a mature YA or New Adult book]

Culter Fuller came back into my life on the day my mother died, as if losing my mother wasn’t bad enough.

We hated each other since childhood. Well, I hated him. He had a very different story.

When I moved to my dad’s house to finish my last semester of high school, we went from bitter enemies to. . . something else. He was suddenly everywhere, occupying my space, determined to pull me into his life, filling me with thoughts I knew were wrong.

I knew that soon we would cross a line that should never be crossed.

I knew crossing that line could have very serious consequences; because Culter Fuller wasn’t just any irresistible boy, Culter Fuller was my stepbrother.

But, I was always very bad at making the right choices.

Making Bad Choices Teaser 1

Wow! I found a new author that I love! I’ve already got two more of her books to read! I loved this! Of course, I really love angst. I knew the whole falling for your stepbrother thing would bring lots of angst. But this book was so much more than that.

Cassie lived alone with her mom and took care of her while her mom fought cancer since Cassie was 11 years old, she lost that fight on Cassie’s 18th birthday.  Now Cassie had to pick up and move from L.A. where she grew up, to some place called Bulvin (which is more of a small town and snowy). She doesn’t have a real close relationship with her father and his wife, in fact she says she thinks of them more like her aunt and uncle. But when Cassie’s mom dies they are helpful, and they take care of all the arrangements. Once the funeral is over they send her on with Culter (I love that name!) to drive to Bulvin with him in his truck and said they’ll wrap things up there for the next week, so she won’t have to worry about it. Well, now that’s where things really start to get interesting. You have to read it to see how…

This is a great read! I’m giving it 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️and I wish it didn’t have to end! But I guess that’s how we feel about the really great ones!!!
