Blurb:
Being in love with someone who doesn’t love you back sucks.
Being in love with your brother’s best friend sucks even more, because you know it can never happen. How tragic is that?
I’ve been in love with Lincoln Andrews since we were kids and he stuck up for me against my brother and played tea parties with me in the treehouse. I’ve also avoided him for the past year because he broke my heart…more than once.
Now we’ve been thrown together at a tropical resort to celebrate my parents’ second wedding, and things are intense and getting worse, no thanks to an insane plan my friends cooked up to get me my dream man.
No one else even comes close to what Linc means to me. He’s always there for me, but is it because he cares for me too—or only because I’m his best friend’s little sister?
It’s time I find out once and for all…but what if our crazy plan blows up in my face and ruins everything?

R. Linda drinks wine and writes books.
A coffee addicted, tattoo enthusiastic fangirl with a slight obsession for a particular British boy band and solo artist, she is a writer of Contemporary YA/NA Romance and Suspense, sometimes dabbling in Paranormal as well.
Renee lives in Melbourne, Australia with her husband and two sons. When not writing she can often be found reading books to her children and cuddling up with them on the couch to watch their favourite movies.

I smiled at her. It wasn’t a friendly smile. It was sinister. Her eyes widened, and she moved back on the rock, knowing I was coming for her.
“You better lose that dress real quick, Princess. I’d hate for it to get wrecked.” I crept closer. Panic marred her features. She knew all too well that I meant what I said.
“You wouldn’t.” She held her hands out to stop me.
“Come on, you know me better than that. You’re getting in this water. It’s just up to you whether your pretty dress is coming in with you.” I turned my back to her. “You have until the count of three. If you’re not in the water by then, I’m turning around regardless of whether you’re still dressed or not.”
“Linc, I’m not skinny-dipping with you.” Her voice quivered a touch with nerves.
I chuckled. “No one said anything about skinny-dipping, but please don’t let me stop you if you feel inclined to swim naked.” I reached for the waistband of my boxers, and intending to mess with her a little more, I removed them completely. “I might just join you.” I threw my underwear over my shoulder and onto the rock.
I was surely going to hell for this.
“Linc! Oh, my god!” I looked over my shoulder at her to find her face buried in her hands.
“To the count of three, Indie,” I warned one last time.
She huffed.
What was I doing? She was Nate’s sister.
“One.”
And she had Jack-ass for a boyfriend.
“Two.”
She was completely off limits.
“Three.”
It was silent. I turned to find her standing on the rock, twisting her hands nervously in front of her. Her dress…at her feet.
I gulped.
Lace. White lace. Matching.
Hell.
I was going to hell.
And I didn’t care. I didn’t care that she was Nate’s sister. I didn’t care that she had a boyfriend. I didn’t care that she was entirely off limits. She was mine. Always had been. And one way or another, I wasn’t leaving this island without getting what I wanted.

>>>>>>>>>>MY REVIEW<<<<<<<<<<

This book was so cute. It was hilarious at times, angsty at times and very sweet & romantic at times. Indie and Lincoln have had feelings for each other for a long time. Lincoln has been Indie’s brother’s best friend since they were little kids, and Linc grew up hanging around the family. So Linc and Indie’s feelings developed slowly from a young age. But even when they got old enough to understand their feelings and act on them, they hesitated. Linc because he was afraid of how his best friend, Indie’s brother, would react, and Indie because she didn’t believe Lincoln felt the same as she did. Now Indie comes home from University for her parents “second wedding” and her friends come up with a plan to try and force Lincoln to finally make a move on Indie. But things get a tad bit out of control.

I really enjoyed this!! It was a quick read and a very feel good one. I found myself sitting there with a big smile on my face in those aw…moments. Don’t you love those moments?! Two big thumbs up and 5 stars for this sweet romance.

Review: A Book With No Pictures by Brent Jones

BE8ABFF9-F515-4FAD-B246-75FDEB156D83

Meet Terrence.

He’s pushing forty. He drinks. He smokes. He eats snack cakes for breakfast. And he’s the sole guardian of his orphaned nephew, Spencer.

But Spencer isn’t just any five-year-old. He’s a child prodigy, and living together requires compromises that neither uncle nor nephew are prepared to make.

This short story, from the author of Fender and The Fifteenth of June, is teeming with raunch and dark humor, mocking the old adage that blood is thicker than water.

A Book With No Pictures also introduces readers to children’s librarian, Afton Morrison, the subject of an upcoming thriller series, also set in the fictional town of Wakefield.

My thoughts:

This short little book (27 pages) sure did have an awful lot to say. The main character, a divorcee named Terry, ends up having to raise his nephew, Spencer, when his brother and sister in-law are killed birdwatching. Yep, you read that right….birdwatching. Just to give you an idea of the humor in the book. Terry isn’t a very nice guy, and is always thinking his nephew is an idiot.
So it’s filled with sarcastic humor. I didn’t know if I was going to like it when I first started reading the first few pages, but I really ended up enjoying it. It is really different from anything I’ve read before, with its quirky and sarcastic humor.

Revenge, murder and meeting the Family at Christmas

When London mob boss, Jack Murray, discovers he has a son, his joy is short-lived: Nicholas is not a chip off the old block; he’s a nurse whose patients call him an “angel”.

Jack is not happy. He needs someone with balls – not a halo – to inherit the Firm. Zenka takes charge. Using her feminine wiles and gangland contacts she will bring out the gorilla in Nicholas. Her tactics are unusual, and illegal, and things soon start to spiral out of control.

“Don’t vorry, Jack. Ven I am finished vith Nicholas he vill be dog’s bollocks just like his papa” –Zenka

MY THOUGHTS:

Alison Brodie is a new to me and I am really impressed!! I REALLY look forward to what she has coming next. Alison, I will be staying with you for the ride!!!

ZENKA is fun, exciting, hysterically funny and filled with some pretty intense scenes!! It’s a wild and fun ride!! I was giggling, laughing, and snorting out loud throughout the book!! A bit awkward if you’re out in public. I loved the characters and really got invested. There were times I had tears running down my face (not from laughing) because I was happy for the characters or my heart went out to them. It was just such a beautifully written story! Not to mention the accents!! I LOVED the accents!!! ZENKA’S was the most fun! She is Hungarian, and a fiesty one at that! It vas so much fun to read vhat she says in book!! Lol. Every once in a while between chapters she writes to her friend, Alina, in Hungary. Those letters usually reveal what ZENKA is thinking, and things we wouldn’t know otherwise. But she’s pretty funny in those letters. I love ZENKA…she just cracks me up!!
I JUST WANT TO SEE THIS BOOK AS A MOVIE, I WOULD LOVE IT!!!!

Oh, there’s also Cockney slang. But Alison, so obligingly, put a Cockney translation page. I bookmarked it on my kindle so that I could easily refer back to it. I didn’t have to very much though, you catch on real quick.

I would recommend this book to everyone, unless you hate to laugh…then don’t read it!! Haha….no, really…READ THIS BOOK!!! YOU’LL LOVE IT!!!!

ZANE_TEASER1

Ex-soldier Zane Tucker is perfectly happy with his single life and his adventure watersports business. A gambler by nature, he figures the odds of finding a woman for forever are a lot longer than finding a woman for right now. And as a man of action and not emotion, he believes a woman with lasting romance on the mind would want someone with less hard muscle and more soft sentiment. But then his dog hurtles toward the new county librarian, yanking Zane into her delicate, pretty presence. Will they both scare her away? And why does that worry him so?

Harper Grace has a bucket list of goals to tick off and is determined to live every moment to the fullest by overcoming her usual shyness. No one will call her too timid and too boring ever again. But then a giant of a man and his equally large dog charge into her life and she can’t decide if she wants to take a step back…or step fully into Zane’s strong arms. She’s been brave enough to change her life, but does she have enough courage to risk her heart?

Release Day Blitz: DEAR BRIDGET, I WANT YOU by Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland

AVAILABLE NOW

Dear Bridget,

I’m writing this letter because it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever garner the courage to say this to your face.

So, here goes.

We’re totally wrong for each other. You’re the proper single mum with a good head on your shoulders. I’m just the carefree British doctor passing through town and temporarily living in your converted garage until I head back to England.

But here’s the thing… for some bloody reason, I can’t stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.

I want you.

The only reason I’m even admitting all of this to you right now is because I don’t believe it’s one-sided. I notice your eyes when you look at me, too. And as crass as I appear when we’re joking around about sex, my attraction to you is not a joke.

So, what’s the purpose of this note? I guess it’s a reminder that we’re adults, that sex is healthy and natural, and that you can find me just through the door past the kitchen. More specifically, it’s to let you know that I’m leaving said door cracked open from now on in case you’d like to visit me in the middle of the night sometime.

No questions asked.

Think about it.

Or don’t.

Whatever you choose.

It’s doubtful I’ll even end up sliding this letter under your door anyway.

–Simon

Every time I considered leaving my room, I would grab the framed picture of Ben and stare at it. The urge to go to Simon was so strong; I basically hadn’t put down the framed photo of my deceased husband in an hour. I was lying in my bed, holding a picture of a dead man while fantasizing about one who was very much alive and in the other room. With the door cracked open waiting for me. There was one part of Simon’s note that I just kept reading over and over.

I want to make you come. Hard. I want you to get lost in me and I want to hear you say my name over and over while we fuck.

While we fuck.

While we fuck.

I was pretty sure that Ben had never used the word fuck like that before. Did we even fuck? We made love, sure. Our sex life was normal—at least, I think it was normal. Don’t get me wrong, the passion wasn’t the same as when we first got together. But after ten years, both of us working full time and raising a child, it was normal to have some of the desire dwindle, wasn’t it?

While we fuck.

I looked at the picture of my husband and sighed. We didn’t fuck. Not even in the beginning. And I felt guilty for that now. Maybe we should have been fucking. I certainly didn’t do anything to entice him to want me the last few years. Was it my fault our sex life had gotten boring? I rested the picture of Ben over my heart and laid my hand over it. I could feel my heart beating out of control beneath my fingers.

Shutting my eyes, I tried to force thoughts of Simon from my mind. But it was no use. Visions of his hard, sculpted body hovering over me had infiltrated my brain. So, here I was, a thirty-three-year-old, single mother lying in my bed all alone with a picture of my dead husband held to my heart while I visualized fucking another man.

Fucking.

Not making love.

I needed my head examined.

After two hours and no sleep in sight, I decided the only way I was going to be able to get any rest was if I got everything I was feeling off of my chest. Flicking on the light, I carefully set the framed photo of my beloved Ben on my nightstand and then opened the drawer and dug out a pen and piece of pretty stationery. I would write down my thoughts to clear my mind. I had no intention of actually giving the letter to Simon, so there was no reason to filter anything I said.

Dear Simon…
