My Review: Knocked Up by Stacey Lynn

C5DF9B0D-6C41-405C-ADEF-CF4C6D6413B1First comes love. Then comes marriage. Then comes baby in a baby carriage. Just not necessarily in that order. . . .

Braxton: I should probably be dead or in jail right now. Instead, thanks to some tough love, I worked my ass off and now I own a string of tattoo parlors throughout the Pacific Northwest. And yet the one thing I’ve always wanted—a family—still seems out of reach. When my best friend gets married, I’m just hoping to blow off some steam with the super-hot maid of honor. But after Cara Thompson tracks me down to tell me she’s pregnant, she’s more surprised than I am when I tell her I’m all in.

Cara: For the first time in my life, I’m living for myself—not for my parents and their ridiculous expectations. I gave up on my MBA, dropped out of the Ivy League, and moved to Portland to pursue my dream of becoming an artist. And what’s the first thing I do? Get knocked up. For a tatted-up sex god, Braxton Henley seems way too eager to “be there for me.” Is this guy serious? Maybe. He sure is patient. Because he won’t back down until I admit what I know in my heart: that our one night standmight’ve led me to the one.

~I’m a trembling shaking mess as I see tears fill his own eyes and there’s nothing we can say. Nothing we can say to each other because this sound . . . this glorious whooshing, galloping sound is the most beautiful thing I’ve heard in my entire life. “We made a baby.” A tear falls down Braxton’s cheek and he leans down, brushing his lips over my cheek, and his voice is so gruff, so broken and beautiful. “Thank you. Thank you so much, Cara.”~

This was the most BEAUTIFUL love story.

Let me start at the beginning. Braxton and Cara met at their mutual friends, actually best friends, wedding. They were immediately attracted to each other and had a wonderful night of sex. In the morning, Cara, who had never had a one night stand and didn’t know how to act, plus she didn’t want her feelings hurt by how he might push her away, did what her friends had always talked about that they did, she got up early, snuck out and disappeared. Left no note, number, nothing.

Six weeks later, Cara discovers she’s pregnant. She’s been with no one since Braxton, so she has no doubt he’s the father. This is all in a very brief introduction, what follows is Braxton finding out he’s a father. Cara being surprised by his reaction of wanting to be all in. Which really is so great, because Cara has no one, except her best friend. The story that follows is about two people getting to know each other, and it is the most BEAUTIFUL love story.

Braxton … I have to stop and comment on Braxton, he is the perfect book boyfriend!!!! He is PERFECT!!!!

This is such an emotional book. Braxton and Cara are two very different people, but it’s so beautiful how they come to love each other for those differences. They have their ups and downs, but it’s those ups and downs that help bring them closer together. Like I say, a BEAUTIFUL love story.

Don’t miss it! Highly recommended!

Saving Brad by Siobhan Davis

93FE55F3-B568-4691-B952-5D1F2DB1CD9DTitle: Saving Brad (The Kennedy Boys Book 5)
Author: Siobhan Davis
Publication Date: October 22, 2017
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance

An enemies-to-lovers romance from USA Today bestselling author Siobhan Davis. Standalone with an HEA and no cliff-hanger.

I’m in love with my best friend’s girl.
She knows it. He knows it. Everyone knows it.
Faye will never be mine, but try telling that to my stupid heart.
An endless rotation of girls streams in and out of my bedroom in a desperate attempt to forget her, but nothing eases the horrid ache in my chest. Rejection isn’t anything new for me, but it hasn’t gotten any easier.
Until she reappears in my life. Like an out-of-control tornado. Storming in, all fierce and angry, ready to steamroll everything in her path. Rachel is trouble with a capital T bundled in a gorgeous, sexy, Irish package.
She pushes all the wrong buttons, and I can’t decide if I want to yell at her or kiss her.
I should steer clear.
But I’ve never been very good at taking my own advice. Especially when it comes to girls I can’t have and shouldn’t want.

I need to escape.
To put as much distance between me and that monster so I can start living my life.
Yet, even the vast Atlantic Ocean isn’t enough to sever the connection. To allow me to forget how he’s ruined me. His hold is more than just physical. He has a vise grip on my head and my heart, and I can’t breathe, can’t think, can’t function.
So, I do everything to blot it out.
Until he reappears in my life.
Brad McConaughey. So hot. So infuriating. So in love with my best friend.
Every word out of Brad’s mouth makes me want to throat punch him or kick him in the nuts.
But he makes me feel, and I hate him for it. A part of me might actually love him for it.
I should keep my distance, but like destructive magnets, we are drawn together.
This isn’t going to end well.
I know it. He knows it.
But we’re powerless to resist.

I love the Kennedy Boys series. Most people who follow my reviews, tweets, blog posts, Facebook posts, etc, probably know this of me by now. BUT I had a hard time with starting this book. Going in I knew it wouldn’t be a favorite, because I’ve never been a fan of Brad. I even questioned why he was getting his own book if he was not a Kennedy! A novella ok, but a book? BUT I am a very big fan of Siobhan’s writing and I trusted her and tried to have an open mind. But, the first 30% of the book had me questioning my judgement!!! Ugh!! But then there was a shift in the story and things started to change, and I became very involved!!

I love Rachel!! She is a very strong person and throughout the book I came to like her even more!!! Whereas with Brad….I didn’t like him, not really at all!! But I came to like him. Rachel is good for him. They were good for each other.

Oh….I have to insert this here….I think Faye would be the coolest chic to have as a friend!! She’s an AWESOME, LOYAL, CARING friend and the girl is SOOO FUNNY!!!

Anyway, it was nice to see the old Brad….the one from book 1 of the Kennedy Boys series (Finding Kyler)….when he was such a sweetheart. If you haven’t read that book….holy crap! You. Are. Missing. Out.

So…if you asked me at 30% if I recommend it…well……BUT NOW IF YOU ASK ME, IM LIKE HELL YEAH!!! READ THIS BOOK!!!

This is Siobhan, one of my favorite authors. She never fails to impress me with her writing. She has the gift of words and a head full of wonderful stories! Besides this series she has two Science Fiction/Romance Series, plus other various works, and she has LOTS of future projects in store!! This is an author to stop and take notice of!!

My Review:

I so enjoy reading Christie Ridgway’s Books! I really enjoy these stories from Beach House #9. It’s such a magical place.
It was the best place for Griffin to end up when he came home after spending a year in Afghanistan as a Journalist witnessing the horrors of war. He comes home a broken man who puts up walls and shuts down, spending time around partiers, listening to loud music and drinking and whatever he can do to shut out his thoughts. He can’t sleep at night, and he does everything to avoid writing the book that Jane is sent to help him write. She has her work cut out for her.

The relationship between Griffin and Jane sneaks up on them. There’s definitely attraction, lots of attraction. Then lots of sex. But both of these characters have problems with relationships and so they fight their feelings and deny their feelings, until you want to scream at them.

But once they did admit their feeling, it was THAT MUCH SWEETER!!!

IMG_1054.jpgKemper Academy is over a hundred years old, but it has only recently reopened after a series of murders and stories of hauntings shut it down. Avlynn, a new student, refuses to let the rumors scare her, chalking them up to a bit of friendly freshman hazing. But when night falls and screams draw her from her room, she finds the truth is much more horrifying than any ghost story.

Title: Her

Publ. Date: 9/16/17
Format: Kindle only
Print Length: 14 pages
Genre: Horror, Ghosts, Short Stories
My Rating: 5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My Thoughts:

This was such a creepy, short little story. I found it really fun! If you’re looking for some creepy books to read (and it’s a short one too), I would definitely recommend this one!!

I would say something more about the story than the summary does, but because it’s short I’m afraid I would ruin the story for you! But I recommend you read this for yourself!!

Have fun!!

Nyxia by Scott Reintgen

Book Summary:

Emmett Atwater isn’t just leaving Detroit; he’s leaving Earth. Why the Babel Corporation recruited him is a mystery, but the number of zeroes on their contract has him boarding their lightship and hoping to return to Earth with enough money to take care of his family.

Before long, Emmett discovers that he is one of ten recruits, all of whom have troubled pasts and are a long way from home. Now each recruit must earn the right to travel down to the planet of Eden—a planet that Babel has kept hidden—where they will mine a substance called Nyxia that has quietly become the most valuable material in the universe.

But Babel’s ship is full of secrets. And Emmett will face the ultimate choice: win the fortune at any cost, or find a way to fight that won’t forever compromise what it means to be human.

My Review:

Nyxia was a really unique book. When I started reading it, I thought a little of hunger games with all the competition. But I soon realized this was its own story and a pretty intense one at times too. Emmett is the main character, and I grew to really like him. He is such a good kid. He came from a good family, and has good values. It is this that makes him outstanding amongst the other kids.

You see Emmett, like the others, was recruited by the Babel Corporation to enter the spaceship going to Eden. Once on the ship they were to compete. There were 10 of them, but only 8 would go to Eden. The competition was designed to prepare them for what they would, or could, go through on Eden. They had technology never seen before to learn to use. The competition got pretty intense. But the rewards of going to Eden meant everything to these kids!!

Some of the kids were ruthless. Some were skilled. Some were plain desperate. And some became like family to each other.

I LOVED reading this book!! It left on a cliffhanger, so I’m hoping it won’t be too long before the next book comes out!!

But, I really do recommend this!! If you like science fiction, with some action/adventure, a bit of a thriller….you’ll LOVE Nyxia!!!!
