I love to read, and writing about what I read has become something very special to me. It’s something that I feel good about, because I can give back to the author of the book I just read by leaving a review. I really enjoy helping out authors as much as I can, because well, they are the ones who write the books I want to read! I have especially enjoyed finding these wonderful Indie authors, who are immensely talented, and supporting them in any and every way possible! 📚🤓 Be sure to check out my review policy, if you’re interested in sharing your work with me.

Love, and You by Gretchen Gomez

This was such beautiful, raw, poetry of the author’s thoughts, feelings and experiences. I sat there reading this book from cover to cover without putting it down, tears streaming down my face, relating to certain things said and feeling for the poet. I borrowed this from Kindle Unlimited, not sure what to expect. Now I will be purchasing this for my library. It’s just so beautiful, the kind of poetry you would want to read again and again. I will be checking out her blog and hope to see more poetry published by Gretchen Gomez in the future!

“there were so many times i had him right next to me and it’s as if he wasn’t there at all. i breathed in loneliness and it swallowed me deeper.”

“i found myself in an island of thoughts surrounded by waves of positivity. this time the moon shined bright on my skin and i finally danced.” -alone in the sand of self acceptance.

What started out like a funny, humorous read worked its way to a thrilling end. It was really about learning about yourself and how love doesn’t have to mean sacrificing who you are to be with someone else. I love how Romy and Logan grew to become better version of themselves. Also, Romy grows and comes to realize that she has to let go of all the expectations and do what makes her happy, and those who love her will accept and support her. It really is such a beautiful and enchanting read, and the fact that it took place in South Africa was so educational too. The terms and definitions at the end helped fill in a few questions that I wondered about.

If you enjoy retellings, young adult romance and even a book that touches on environmental issues…look no further!! I highly recommend this. You will thoroughly enjoy curling up with this one!!

*I read a complimentary copy of this book supplied by the author via Siobhan Davis’s Street Team. I have voluntarily reviewed same.

A magical circus…

This was a fun read! I’ve never read anything about the circus and wasn’t sure I’d like it. But Sarah Noffke created a wonderful world of fantasy and circus acts. This is my second book from this author and I WANT MORE! She is very generous in developing characters, and there are quite a few in this book. Her characters really come alive on the page and she gives them depth, making us really connect with them. I will warn you though, be prepared to read book two right away. This one ends abruptly at a point where you’re yelling “No, but what happens to….” At least the whole series is already available.

Definitely a 5 star read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Losing Kyler by Siobhan Davis

“I love you,” he whispers in that hypnotic voice I adore. “It can’t be wrong. It just can’t be. Not when it feels like this.”

When I read Finding Kyler, I felt that it was easily going to be the best book I’ll have read in 2017. But then I read Losing Kyler, and I was proved so wrong. Holy cow! This book was amazing, it had it all and more! Finding Kyler ended with a major cliffhanger…I mean MAJOR!!! When I started reading Losing Kyler it picked right up where that cliffhanger left off and wow…talk about taking off at the starting gate!!! This book had plenty of angst, lots of twists and turns and even a few “What you talkin’ about Willis?” moments!! I was taken by surprise a few times. Through all the Kennedy “craziness” it was very touching to see Faye become so close to the family and making them her home. I’m being very careful not to say too much, even though I want to tell you ALL about it. But you need to be able to enjoy the book the way I did, going into it knowing nothing. But I will say this if you enjoyed Finding Kyler, you are going to LOVE this!!! If you haven’t read Finding Kyler, what the heck are you waiting for?!!! Go read it now!!!

“Losing Kyler is not an option I’m prepared to accept.”

Mainstream vs Indie Books

As I sit and write my very first blog entry, I wonder at all the reviews I’ve written on Goodreads and wonder how good they actually are. But, pish posh, I am going to get lots of practice and I’m sure much constructive criticism, am I right?

Starting a blog is something I have thought long and hard about. But, I read a lot of indie authors and believe so much and helping them get the word out about how wonderful their books are. There’s a lot of great mainstream books, and a lot of not so great ones. Boy, let me tell you, there are a whole lot of extremely talented indie authors out there who just haven’t gone into mainstream. I want to share them with all of you. Of course, you’ll still see me reading some mainstream books. I’ll read anything out there that sounds good, and especially if it has good ratings! But there is this really beautiful community that you all don’t want to miss out on. Some really talented and dedicated folks. I would like to introduce you to some in the next few blogs.
